Assumptions & Methodology
This calculator assumes that during an EMR outage, providers generate zero billable encounters, but remain on the clock. It adds a 15% penalty to the base hourly calculation to account for the "recovery backlog" (the time staff spend manually entering paper charts into the system once it comes back online).
